Why Bethesda Patients Cross the Bridge for Acupuncture
When it comes to acupuncture, Bethesda reads the footnotes. In the town of NIH and Walter Reed, patients ask about study design before they ask about parking. Geography, stated plainly: we don't have a Maryland office. We practice in McLean, VA at 1481 Chain Bridge Rd, Ste 300, and downtown Bethesda reaches us in 15 to 20 minutes over the American Legion Bridge outside rush hour — Beltway traffic varies. Chevy Chase is equally close: Clara Barton Parkway to Chain Bridge runs about 15 minutes.
Care that speaks Bethesda's language
Virginia licenses acupuncturists through its Board of Medicine, and our licensed practitioners bring 15+ years of practice. Just as important here: we hedge the way honest clinicians hedge. Research suggests acupuncture may help with several chronic pain and stress-related conditions — it is not a cure, results vary, and our condition pages cite NIH and Mayo Clinic sources instead of promising outcomes. If needles aren't the right tool, we'll say so at the consultation. That is the acupuncture Bethesda patients tend to want: described at the level the evidence supports, and no higher.

Conditions & Acupuncture Services for Bethesda & Chevy Chase
Most of the acupuncture Bethesda and Chevy Chase patients book is aimed at a short list of complaints:
- Chronic low back pain from long clinical and desk hours
- Neck and shoulder tension that builds through screen-heavy weeks
- Stress, shallow sleep, and the headaches that ride along with both
- Fertility support alongside IVF and IUI
Around the needles sits a full Chinese medicine toolkit: cupping therapy as a $20 add-on with any massage, tui na meridian massage at $100 for 60 minutes, plus gua sha and hot stone work. The complete menu and pricing live on our core McLean page.
Honest limits
Acupuncture supports medical care; it doesn't replace it. Progressive weakness, new numbness, or the worst headache of your life belongs with a physician first — and in Bethesda you're spoiled for excellent ones.

Massage Pricing, Published in Full
A town that reads the footnotes deserves a price with its conditions attached rather than a “from” figure. Our clinic is in McLean, VA — there is no Maryland office — and a 60 minute massage there is $100.
The $80 rate is the member rate: membership costs nothing and has no signup form, and it applies once you have purchased a package of 5 or more massage sessions. Session by session, a 60 minute massage is $100.
Lymphatic drainage is the one exception on the menu: $120 for 60 minutes, or $100 at the member rate. Cupping, gua sha and hot stone add-ons are $20 each with any massage and free for members, “member” meaning the package of five described above rather than a fee or a monthly charge.
What crossing the bridge changes
Nothing about the price. Maryland residents pay the published Virginia rate, the same as someone walking in from Chain Bridge Rd. What does change is the billing lane: massage is self-pay for everyone, while the insurance we accept applies to the acupuncture Bethesda residents come here for, not to bodywork — see the insurance page. If you want our number set against the wider McLean and Tysons market, with the month those figures were collected, that work sits on the McLean massage price guide. Fifteen to twenty minutes over the American Legion Bridge, outside rush hour, and the parking is free at the other end.

Getting Here from Bethesda
Two good routes, both honest:
- The Beltway: I-495 across the American Legion Bridge, then the Route 123 / Chain Bridge Rd exit toward McLean — the road runs straight to 1481; 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour.
- The parkway: Clara Barton Parkway along the canal to Chain Bridge, cross into Virginia, and you're already on Route 123 — the steadier, prettier choice from Chevy Chase, about 15 minutes.
Free parking vs. Bethesda garages
Here the parking question simply doesn't exist: a free surface lot at the door — no meters, no garage spiral, no validation ticket, a real contrast with Bethesda Row. Most Maryland patients book evenings or weekends — 9 AM to 9 PM, all 7 days — and cross the bridge against traffic both ways. First visit? Our new patient guide covers how to prepare.
